Foundation Governor for Woodchester School

Could you be a Governor?

The Woodchester Endowed C. of E. (Aided) Primary’s Trust Deed ensures that there should be a majority of Foundation Governors on the school's Full Governing Board (FGB) - that is seven governors nominated by the St. Mary's Church Parochial Church Council (PCC) and appointed by the Diocese. In September the school will need one or even two more governors.

Foundation governors do not have to be church members but are appointed by the Church to safeguard the religious character and ethos of a Church of England school such as ours. While they share all the standard strategic and management responsibilities of a regular school governor, their primary duty is to ensure that the school's Christian vision, values, Religious Education, and collective worship thrive.

Being a school governor of a primary school also needs to be able to attend meetings regularly and have the interest and capacity to visit school as a part of a governor's monitoring role during school opening hours.

If you or if you know anyone suitable who would like to take on this role, or explore further what it means, please contact Rod Harris, on the email chair@woodchester.gloucs.sch.uk

Many thanks,

Rod Harris

Chair of Governors
