St Mary’s Church
Information & History
The history of the parish of Woodchester goes back nearly 1200 years with Wolfrun identified as the local priest back in 845. There is no trace of any church building from that time, but sections of the old 12th century stone church are still standing within the consecrated graveyard on the Northern boundary of Woodchester village.
The much larger, current church of St. Mary’s was built in 1865 in a more central village location, right next to the green in N. Woodchester.
